2. Petitioner seeks regular bail in a case registered for the offence punishable under sections 304B/201/120B/34 of the Indian Penal Code.
3. On 23.12.2023, informant alleges that her daughter was married to one Rakesh Chauhan five years back. After sometime, petitioner and her family members demanded Rs. 50,000/- and a motorcycle. Accused persons started subjecting her to torture and harassment for non-fulfilment of demand of dowry and on 22.12.2023 accused persons killed informant's daughter and secretly cremated the dead body.
4. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, while denying the allegation, submits that petitioner happens to be mother in law of the deceased. She is old lady suffering from several ailments and she has falsely been implicated in this case due to ulterior motive. Petitioner is in custody since 16.6.2024.
5. Learned counsel for the State and informant oppose
Patna High Court CR. MISC. No.68356 of 2024(4) dt.05-03-2025 2/2 the prayer for bail. Learned counsel for informant submits that as a matter of fact, husband of deceased live in Oman since 2021. There is direct and specific allegation that she and her family members killed the deceased for non-fulfilment of dowry demand.
6. Considering the nature of accusation, prayer for regular bail of the petitioner is rejected.
