1. Heard learned counsel for the parties concerned.

2. The petitioner passed his Secondary School Examination in the year 2016 from St. Michael's High School, Digha, Patna. In the school record, the name of the mother of the petitioner is mentioned as "Bibha Prasad"; whereas, the contention of the petitioner is that the correct name of his mother is "Bibha" only.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in other Government documents of the mother of the petitioner viz. Passport, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, etc., the correct name of the petitioner's mother is mentioned as "Bibha"

Patna High Court CWJC No.14737 of 2023(2) dt.10-11-2023 2/3 and not "Bibha Prasad". Accordingly, the petitioner submitted a representation for correction of mother's name before the Secretary/Regional Director, Central Board of Secondary Examination, Patna vide Annexure-6 to this writ application.

Mr. Vinay Krishna Tripthy, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the Central Board of Secondary Examination, submits that in the records of the school, the name of the mother of the petitioner is "Bibha Prasad", but the petitioner seeks to correct the name from "Bibha Prasad" to only "Bibha" after deleting her surname on the basis of public documents. Learned counsel further submits that Central Board of Secondary Examination has asked for certain documents from the school, in question, and some documents have already been sent and some are still to be sent by the concerned school. Accordingly, his submission is that after receipt of the documents, the representation of the petitioner shall be considered in accordance with law.

5. Having heard learned counsel for the parties and taking into consideration the nature of prayer, I direct the Regional Officer, Central Board of Secondary

Patna High Court CWJC No.14737 of 2023(2) dt.10-11-2023 3/3 Examination, Patna to consider the request/representation of the petitioner for correcting his mother's name by deleting the title of the mother of the petitioner mentioned in the school records and the certificate, in accordance with law, after taking into consideration the contemporaneous Government documents submitted by the school and/or by the petitioner.

6. The aforesaid exercise must be completed by the concerned authority within a period of two months from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order.

7. With the aforesaid observations and directions, this writ application is disposed.
