2. The petitioner has moved this Court against the order dated 19.11.2024 issued under the signature of the District Agriculture Officer, Bhagalpur whereby the application for appointment of the petitioner on compassionate ground was rejected.

3. The relevant facts in brief are that the father of the petitioner who was working on the post of Co-ordinator in the Agriculture Department in the office of the District Agriculture Officer, Bhagalpur died in harness on 28.7.2018. The

Patna High Court CWJC No.15292 of 2025(2) dt.04-11-2025 2/3 application filed by the petitioner for her appointment on compassionate ground was considered by the District Compassionate Committee headed by the District Magistrate, Bhagalpur who in its meeting held on 22.10.2022 rejected the application of the petitioner on the ground that the mother of the petitioner ie the wife of the deceased employee was also working on the post of Nurse Grade A. The said decision of the District Compassionate Committee and rejection of the application for appointment on compassionate ground was communicated by the order impugned to the mother of the petitioner.

4. Having perused the contents of the writ petition, it transpires that the fact that the mother of the petitioner was working on the post of Nurse Grade A is not in dispute. In fact, learned counsel for the petitioner in reference to paragraph 9 of the petition fairly states that the mother of the petitioner subsequently retired on 31.10.2023.

5. It is well settled that the object of appointment on compassionate ground is to enable the family of the deceased employee to tide over the financial crisis of the family as a result of the untimely death of the employee while in service.

6. So far as the instant case is concerned, the wife of

Patna High Court CWJC No.15292 of 2025(2) dt.04-11-2025 3/3 the deceased employee already being in service and working on the post of Nurse Grade A, the application for compassionate appointment was rightly rejected by the District Compassionate Committee as communicated by the order impugned to the mother of the petitioner.

7. In the facts of the case, the Court finds no error in the order impugned nor any merit in the instant writ application.
