JUSTICE RAJEEV RANJAN PRASAD ORAL ORDER 10-10-2018 This writ application has been preferred for a direction to the respondent authorities to complete the investigation of the case in Kotwali P. S. Case No. 458 of 2014 dated 21.08.2014 for the offence alleged under Sections 498A and 494 of the Indian Penal Code.

In the nature of relief prayed for, no notice is required to be issued to the private respondents.

The case is said to have been lodged about four years back and the grievance of the petitioner is that the investigation has been kept pending all these times which has now crossed

Patna High Court Cr. WJC No.423 of 2018(2) dt.10-10-2018 2/2 over four years.

In the opinion of this Court speedy investigation and completion of the same within a reasonable time is a must in order to keep faith of the people in the administration of justice as also in the investigating agency. If the investigating agency is not completing the investigation and is not submitting a report in terms of the provision of the Cr.P.C. within a reasonable time, this Court directs the Senior Superintendent of Police, Gaya to review the whole matter within a period of four weeks from today and ensure completion of the investigation and submission of report within a maximum period of 90 days from today, failing which it will be a case of contempt and the petitioner will be free to file an application for initiation of contempt.

This application stands disposed off.
