In this case, the petitioner is seeking anticipatory bail in connection with Durgawati P.S. Case No. 376 of 2018, registered for the offence under Sections 120-B, 379, 384, 385 and 411 of the Indian Penal Code.
As per the F.I.R., while the informant along with his friend were coming from Uttar Pradesh, they were intercepted by the petitioner and other police personnel at the check post, whereafter the informant stated that they have taken some liquor at Varanasi. Allegation has been made that the said State Government personnel have demanded an amount of Rs.20,000/- from the informant for not lodging the case against them.

Looking to the nature of allegation, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, the prayer for bail is rejected. However, if the petitioner surrenders before the Court below within three weeks from today and prays for regular bail, the Court below will consider the same and pass appropriate order without being influenced by the order of this Court.
