JUSTICE RAVI RANJAN) Date : 21-02-2018 Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and the State. Through this writ application, the petitioner, who is serving life sentence in connection with Sessions Trial No.214 of 1989/145 of 1993 after his conviction under Sections 302/34 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code, seeks direction for his premature release under the Short Sentencing Policy of the State as he claims that he has already completed the qualifying period of incarceration entitling him of such benefit.
The petitioner claims that vide Annexure-4, the matter has already been placed before the Remission Board.
Patna High Court Cr. WJC No.609 of 2018 dt.21-02-2018 2/2 Accordingly, this writ application stands disposed of with a direction to the Bihar State Sentence Remission Board to take a decision in accordance with law in the matter of the petitioner in its next meeting from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order, if the same has already not been done.
