2. The petitioner is daughter-in-law of a deceased Government Servant, who died, while in service, posted as a Sub-Inspector of Police in the Special Branch on 11.08.2011. The petitioner claims that she is the only member in the family, who can look after the widow of the deceased employee and other family members. The widow is said to have given her consent for appointment of this petitioner on compassionate ground, consequent upon the death of the deceased employee, in harness. It is also the petitioner's case that her husband has deserted her.

3. Be that as it may, this is not at all in dispute that

Patna High Court CWJC No.23114 of 2019(2) dt.14-01-2020 2/2 under the Scheme of the compassionate appointment framed by the State Government, a daughter-in-law is not eligible to be given appointment on compassionate ground. In any event, nearly nine years after the death of the deceased employee, whole purpose of grant of compassionate appointment has become meaningless.

4. This application, in my view, has not merit and is accordingly dismissed.
