Mr. Praveen Kumar For the Respondent/s :

Mr. Vinay Krishna Tripathy ====================================================== CORAM: HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE CHAKRADHARI SHARAN SINGH ORAL ORDER 05-09-2018 The petitioner is mother of Sourav Mankotia, who passed Class-X Examination, held by the Central Board of Secondary Education in 2017. Petitioner's name has been entered in the grade sheet-cum-certificate of performance issued by the Board as 'Seema Mankotia'.

The petitioner filed an application before the Board for correcting her name as mother of Sourav Mankotia, as according to the petitioner, her name is 'Seema Devi' and 'Seema Mankotia' has been incorrectly entered in the grade sheet-cum-certificate of performance and other documents. The

Patna High Court CWJC No.15932 of 2018(3) dt.05-09-2018 2/3 said application has been rejected by the impugned communication dated 04.03.2018 issued by the Board, which has been brought on record by way of Annexure 3 and which is under challenge in the present writ application. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner draws my attention to Annexure 1 of the writ application, which, according to the petitioner, was application for admission of the petitioner's son. Based on the said document, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner's name was mentioned as 'Seema Devi' at the time of admission and not 'Seema Mankotia'.

Learned counsel for the petitioner, however, does not dispute that in subsequent school records, the petitioner's name was mentioned as 'Seema Mankotia' and even in the application for registration and examination form, the petitioner's name was mentioned as 'Seema Mankotia'. From the impugned order, I notice that the petitioner's case for correction has been rejected by the Board on the ground that the desired correction did not match with the school records. Learned counsel for the petitioner has not been able to satisfy this Court that the said finding, recorded by the Board in the impugned order is incorrect.

Patna High Court CWJC No.15932 of 2018(3) dt.05-09-2018 3/3 directs correction in the petitioner's name, that will not adversely affect any third party and a sympathetic view needs to be taken since in other documents petitioner's name has been mentioned as 'Seema Devi' and not 'Seema Mankotia'. The certificates issued by the Board have their own sanctity. In appropriate cases, correction can be made when the entries are found to be incorrect. There is no dispute that the entry is based on the school record. The decision of the Board in such circumstances, cannot be said to be bad, requiring this Court's interference.

This application is accordingly dismissed.
