2. The petitioner has made an application for grant of Arms Licence before the District Magistrate, Samastipur under Section 13 of the Arms Act, 1959, for possessing Revolver/Pistol. It is the petitioner's case that his application is pending since 2008 and till date no decision has been taken.

3. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that the petitioner requires the Arms Licence

Patna High Court CWJC No.25015 of 2019(2) dt.13-12-2019 2/2 for protection of herself, her family and the properties held by her. He contends that there is no adverse material, which can be a basis for rejection of her application for the licence. He has further submitted that in any view of the matter, there cannot be any justification in keeping the application pending for more than 11 years.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances as stated in the writ application and the submission advanced on behalf of the petitioner as noted above, the District Magistrate, Samastipur is directed to ensure that a decision is taken on the petitioner's application for grant of Arms Licence within six months from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order, if already not disposed of.
