JUSTICE MOHIT KUMAR SHAH ORAL ORDER 27-11-2024 Though the present writ petition was filed for directing the respondent-authorities to pay ex gratia compensation amount to the petitioner, who has died in a road accident while he was in custody of the police authorities, however, at the outset, the learned counsel for the respondentState submits, by referring to paragraph no.6 of the counter affidavit filed in the present case that a sum of Rs.4 lakh has already been paid to the petitioner, vide cheque dated 26.12.2018, by way of ex gratia amount, hence the present writ petition has been rendered infructuous.

2. At this juncture, the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner be granted liberty to avail such other alternative remedies, as are otherwise available under the law for grant of additional compensation, if so warranted. Liberty so sought is granted.
