The grievance of the petitioner in the instant Writ Petition is that his date of birth has been wrongly reflected in the service book and though for correction of the date of birth he has approached the authorities concerned supported with all relevant documents, but till date no decision has been taken by the department in this regard.

Given the limited prayer that the petitioner has made, let the respondents No. 1 & 2 take an appropriate decision in respect of correction

of date of birth made by the petitioner in accordance with the rules and guidelines framed by the State Government in this regard. 3.

Let an appropriate decision be taken within an outer limit of 90 days from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 4.

Needless to mention that, the petitioner would also be entitled for making fresh representation if the rules so permit. 5.

It is also made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion so far as the entitlement of the petitioner for the correction of date of birth. The authorities would be free to decide the same in accordance with the rules governing the field.
