The grievance of the petitioner in the present writ petition was the wrong seniority and denial of promotion to the petitioner. 2.

Today when the matter is taken up, the learned State counsel produces an order of the Director General of Police, dated 25.01.2021, whereby the claim of the petitioner seems to have been redressed, in as much as he has been granted proper seniority and appropriate orders have been passed for rectification of the seniority and placing the petitioner at the appropriate place.

The apprehension of the petitioner at this juncture is that even though the respondents might have granted the petitioner appropriate seniority, it is only the grievance so far as seniority which stands redressed, however his claim for consequential relief of promotion in parity with similarly placed persons or juniors to the petitioner have to be considered by the authorities concerned. 4.

The State counsel submits that since the seniority stands restored, all the other claims of the petitioners would be considered in accordance with the Rules governing the field and they should automatically flow from the order dated 25.01.2021. 5.

Given the said submissions by the learned counsel for the parties, the writ petition at this juncture stands disposed of directing the respondents to ensure that the order dated 25.01.2021 is implemented in its letter and spirit and also consider the claim of the petitioner seeking promotion on parity with similarly placed persons and juniors to the petitioner, who have got promotion earlier. 6.

Considering the fact that the petitioner herein is to retire w.e.f. December, 2021, the respondents are expected to take an appropriate decision at the earliest preferably within a period of 4 months from the date of receipt of the copy of this order. 7.

With the aforesaid observations, the present writ petition stands disposed off.
