1. The grievance of the petitioner in the present writ petition is the inaction on the part of the respondents in not considering the claim of the petitioner for grant of compassionate appointment at the earliest.

2. According to the petitioner, her husband was working on the post of Chowkidar (Watchman) in the Forest Department who died in harness on 14.10.2018, though the petitioner had applied for compassionate appointment in the Forest Department but on account of non availability of

vacancies, the petitioner could not be considered and therefore the District Collector had recommended the case of the petitioner to be considered for appointment under the Sales Tax Department where there were vacancies available.

3. Pleadings to the writ petition would also reveal that Assistant Commissioner (Sales Tax) also has recommended the case of the petitioner for being granted appointment and has made recommendation in this regard vide Annexure P-6 dated 07.08.2020. Earlier order of appointment from the office of District Collector had been issued to the office of Sales Tax Department vide order dated 28.07.2020 recommending claim of the petitioner.

Given the aforesaid two correspondences made from the office of the District Collector as also from the office of the Assistant Commissioner, this Court is of the opinion that ends of justice would meet if respondent no.2 is directed to take appropriate decision on the claim of the petitioner for grant of compassionate appointment at the earliest preferably within a period of 90 days from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
