1. The limited relief that the petitioner has sought in the present writ petition is for a direction to the respondent no.2 to extend the validity of the environmental clearance which the petitioner had from 9th March, 2017 to 31st March, 2020.

2. The contention of the counsel for the petitioner is that earlier the petitioner had got environmental clearance from the District Level Assessment Authority, district Rajnadgaon, Chhattisgarh but now since the said body has been abolished, the application has been made to

the respondent no.2. According to the petitioner, he has already made an application as early as on 30.11.2019 and the respondents may be directed to take an appropriate decision on the said application at the earliest.

3. To the limited relief, the learned ASG does not have any objection.

4. Accordingly, the respondent no.2 is directed to take an appropriate decision on the application of the petitioner for grant of environmental clearance at the earliest, preferably before 31st of March, 2020 till which date the petitioner already has an environmental clearance in his favour. While considering the said application, the authorities would be taking a decision strictly in accordance with the provisions of law and the guidelines and circulars issued by the Ministry of Environment.
