The only grievance of the petitioner is that though post of Assistant Engineer is lying vacant in the bank and that the petitioner is eligible for being considered for promotion to the post of Assistant Engineer, promotion is not being given to him.

Learned counsel for the respondent-Bank, upon instructions, submits that the respondent No.2 would be taking expeditious steps to hold departmental

promotion committee to consider the case of eligible Sub Engineers for promotion to the post of Assistant Engineer.

In view of above submission made by learned counsel for the parties, I am not inclined to keep the matter pending. Accordingly, this petition is finally disposed off with a direction to the respondent -Bank to consider the petitioner's case for promotion to the post of Assistant Engineer as early as possible within an outer limit of six months.
