1. The relief sought for by the petitioner was for an appropriate direction to the respondents for immediately relieving the petitioner so that he can join the post of Assistant Sub Inspector.

2. The respondents have now entered appearance and they have filed their reply wherein they have stated that the petitioner, during the pendency of this writ petition, has been granted promotion and he has

also been granted seniority from the date of his joining on the promotional post.

3. In view of the reply of the State Govt. it appears that the grievance of the petitioner stands redressed.

4. The writ petition accordingly stands dismissed as having become infructuous.

5. However, in case the petitioner is still aggrieved with the subsequent promotion order that has been issued, he would be at liberty to revive the present writ petition and would also be at liberty to file a fresh writ petition.
