The petitioner has filed this present public interest litigation mainly challenging the selection process of the Chhattisgarh Ranji Trophy Team for the year 2016-2017. Various grounds have been raised in the writ petition including that certain players who performed well in Inter-District Tournaments have not been selected and those who did not perform up to the mark have been selected and thereby the talented players have been neglected.

The petitioner has also filed an application seeking interim relief to the effect that a direction may be issued to Respondent No.1 - Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh for holding the Skill Camp at least to see the performance of the left out players and if the selection committee feels that anyone of them is an outstanding player he can be selected in the State Team. He further submits that none of the players would claim their selection in the team as a matter of right if the skill camp is organized by Respondent No.1.

Learned counsel for Respondent No.1 has raised a preliminary objection in respect of maintainability of the present petition. It has, however, been submitted by Shri Tulsi, learned Senior counsel that in the interest of sports Respondent No.1 will organize special skill camp for the left out players and for the players whose reference has been given in the writ petition to determine their dexterity. However, merely on the basis of organizing the said skill camp they will not be selected for the Ranji Trophy Team until and unless selectors so feel. He submits that the skill camp will be organized by Respondent No.1 within a week from today and the decision of the selection committee would be final. He further submits that prior intimation would be given to the players about the time and place of the skill camp to be organized by Respondent No.1. Learned Senior counsel also submits that concession given by Respondent No.1 in the present case may not be treated as a precedent and this is meant for exceptional circumstances only.

In view of the fair submission made by Respondent No.1, counsel for the petitioner wants to withdraw the present writ petition.
