1. The petitioner retired from service on 30-9-1997, order for payment of retiral dues was made on 13-3-2002 and virtually, payments were made on 22-6-2002. The petitioner claimed interest on retiral dues from 30-9-1997 till the date of making payment and that has been declined by order dated 29-8-2009 against which this petition has been preferred.

2. A careful perusal of the order impugned would show that no sufficient reasons have been recorded for not granting interest on retiral dues from 30-9-1997 till the date of making payment. The impugned order is set aside.

3. Be that as it may, the State Government is directed to consider afresh the petitioner's case for grant of interest, granting or rejecting payment of interest for the aforesaid period. This Court has not expressed any opinion on merits.

4. With the aforesaid observation, the writ petition stands finally disposed of. No order as to cost(s).
