Relief sought for by Petitioner through the present Writ Petition is for an appropriate direction to Respondent - State Government to consider and take a decision on the proposal that the Director General of Police, Chhattisgarh, Nawa Raipur has made to the State Government vide his letter dated 24.2.2020, Annexure P-2.

Learned Counsel for Petitioner submits that the Petitioner is a promotee Officer in the Department and is working on the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police for the last more than 6 years and has also put in 30 years of overall service under Respondents. Petitioner wants that the criterias for the next promotion to the post of Additional Superintendent of Police may be relaxed by the State Government in respect of those officers who have put in 6 years of service as Deputy Superintendent of Police and 30 years of overall service, which otherwise as on date takes almost 14 years time for a promotee DSP for being promoted to the post of Additional Superintendent of Police.

Learned Counsel for Petitioner further submits that the Petitioner and other similarly placed persons had represented their cause before the higher authorities in the Department and the Director General of Police vide Annexure P-2, dated 24.2.2020, has sent a proposal in this regard to the State Government. However, thereafter there has been no development on the said proposal made.

Learned Counsel for Petitioner therefore prays for an appropriate direction to the State Government to take a decision on the said proposal so that a large number of Deputy Superintendent of Police rank officers who have put in 6 years of service as Deputy Superintendent of Police and have also put in overall 30 years of service under Respondents can be benefitted. 5.

Without expressing any opinion on the case, the present Writ Petition at this juncture is disposed of directing the Respondent No.1 to take an appropriate decision on the recommendation, Annexure P-2, dated 24.2.2020, at the earliest, preferably within a period of four months from the date of receipt of copy of this Order.
