2. The petitioner's father died in harness on 26.8.2014. His application for grant of compassionate appointment is pending consideration before the competent authority of the Water Resources Department, however, the final order has not been

passed despite lapse of about 3 years time.

3. Therefore, the ends of justice would be served if the respondents are directed to decide the pending application of the petitioner for grant of compassionate appointment in terms of the State Government's Policy within a period of 03 months from the date of submission of certified copy of this order before the competent authority.

4. It is ordered accordingly.

5. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case and the respondent authorities shall decide the matter, on its own merits, strictly in accordance with law, without treating any observation made in this order, as opinion on the merits of the case.
