1. Aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondents in not deciding the claim of the petitioner for compassionate appointment, the present writ petition has been filed.

2. It is a case where death of the father of the petitioner took place on 02.02.1998 under the erstwhile State of Madhya Pradesh though at that time the deceased was working in the geographical area which falls under the State of Chhattisgarh. The petitioner had moved an application for compassionate appointment on 22.08.2000, however, there has been no further progress on the said application.

3. Recently from the correspondence made from the office of Divisional Forest Officer, Durg, Division Durg and also from the office of Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest it appears that the claim of the petitioner is still under consideration before the authorities as there are various inter-departmental communication available in this regard.

Given the said facts that the matter is still under consideration before the authorities, the writ petition stands disposed of directing the respondents to take an appropriate decision on the claim of the petitioner for grant of compassionate appointment in accordance with policy governing the field and the rules and regularization applicable. Let a decision be taken at the earliest preferably within a period of 120 days from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
