1. Counsel for the petitioner makes an oral request for making correction in the cause title.

2. Not opposed.

3. Accordingly, the oral request is accepted. Let necessary correction be carried out during the course of the day.

4. The only relief which the petitioner has sought in this writ petition is for a direction to the respondents to take an appropriate decision on the recommendations made by the DPC in its meeting that was held on 15.03.2018.

-25. According to the petitioner, it is a case where the petitioner is eligible for being promoted from the post of Head Constable to the Post of Sub Inspector. A DPC in this regard was convened on 15.03.2018. There were only 3 clear vacancies and one anticipatory vacancy which was to occur on 31.12.2018 and thereafter the petitioner would have become eligible for promotion against the vacant post that fell due on 31.12.2018.

6. Given the aforesaid facts and circumstances as narrated by the petitioner, this Court is of the view that no fruitful purpose would be served in keeping the writ petition pending rather ends of justice would meet if the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent no.1 to take an appropriate decision on the recommendation of the DPC that was held on 15.03.2018, at the earliest preferably within a period of 4 months from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
