1. The prayer made by the petitioners in the present writ petition is for a direction to respondent no.1 to consider the prayer of the petitioners for grant of rank of Sub Inspector(M) in the Police Department.
2. According to the petitioners, they were all appointed in the year 2007 on the post of Data Entry Operator after undergoing due selection process as per SOP No. 21 dated 27.07.2001. The grievance of the petitioners is that though the petitioners have been working with the Police Department, they have not been granted any rank in the Police Department and that they should be awarded the rank of Sub Inspector (M).
3. Counsel for the petitioners referred to two correspondence made by the Police Head Quarter; One letter dated 04.12.2008 and another letter dated 03.03.2015 in this regard whereby the Police Headquarter has recommended the claim of the petitioners for awarding the rank as a police personnel. He submits that though these two correspondences have been made quite sometime back but till date no formal decision has been taken by the State Govt. in this regard.
4. Given the aforesaid facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is of the opinion that no fruitful purpose would be served in keeping the writ petition pending rather ends of justice would meet if the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent no.1 to consider and decide the claim of the petitioners so far as granting of rank of Sub Inspector (M) in the Police Department is concerned, particularly in the light of the recommendation dated 04.12.2008 and 03.03.2015 by the Police
Headquarter. Let this exercise be completed within a period of 4 months from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
5. The writ petition accordingly stands disposed of. Sd/- (P. Sam Koshy) JUDGE Khatai
