At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner prays that the writ petition as of now be disposed of directing the respondent No.2 to take an appropriate decision on the mercy appeal that the petitioner has preferred as early as on 09.10.2020, which till date is pending consideration.

The mercy appeal has been preferred against the order of dismissal from service issued by the Superintendent of Police, District Balrampur-Ramanujganj, against which the petitioner has preferred an appeal and which too has been rejected on 01.09.2020.

Given the limited relief that the petitioner seeks for, the present writ petition at this juncture stands disposed of directing the respondent No.2 to take an appropriate decision on the mercy appeal of the petitioner pending consideration before the respondent No.2 at the earliest preferably within a period of 90 days from the date of receipt of the copy of this order.

With the aforesaid observations, the present writ petition stands disposed of.
