Indisputably petitioner's land was acquired for construction/ widening of National Highway and the amount of compensation was also determined. As a matter of fact, a cheque was issued in favour of the petitioner, however, because of some mistake the cheque was directed to be

returned and thereafter, payment has not been received by the petitioner.

Considering the entire facts situation of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent No.3, who is competent authority under the National Highways Act, 1956, to pass necessary orders for making payment of compensation to the petitioner within a period of four weeks from today. If for any lawful reason the petitioner is found not entitled for compensation, the authority shall pass a reasoned order and inform the petitioner within the same period.
