(1) Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that petitioner's application for compassionate appointment pending consideration before respondent No.1 since 1997 and, therefore, same may be directed to be decided within the specific time frame.

(2) Prayer appears to be fair & reasonable.

(3) Accordingly, the respondent No. 2 is directed to take decision on the petitioner's application for compassionate appointment expeditiously preferably within a period of three months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. (4) With the aforesaid observation, the writ petition petition stands finally disposed of.

(5) It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case and the authority concerned shall decide the petitioner's application on its own merits in accordance with law.
