1. The grievance of the petitioner is that, the petitioner's Husband late Mauni Prasad Pandey was an employee of the respondent No.4 and who retired from service on 31.05.2005. The said Husband of the petitioner subsequently expired on 11.01.2012. During the lifetime of the Husband of the petitioner, he has not been paid GPF amount and even after 7 years from the date of death of the deceased employee and more than 14 years from the date of retirement of the deceased employee. Till date there is no order whatsoever passed by the respondents showing that there is a deficit balance or that certain recoveries have to be made or there were any justified reasons for not releasing the GPF amount.

2. It appears that there has been a intermittent correspondence made by the office of the Accountant General with the office of the respondent No.4 for

-2collecting details and data for the release of the amount, but for some reasons it has not been till date finalized or settled.

Given the aforesaid facts and circumstances of the case, this court is of the opinion that the ends of justice would meet if the respondents No.2 to 4 are directed to ensure that the GPF amount payable to the petitioner which fell due on the retirement of Mauni Prasad Pandey i.e. Husband of the petitioner is scrutinized and settled at the earliest preferably within a period of four months from today.

4. The entire amount payable to the petitioner shall also carry interest as is applicable in the GPF amount till the date of actual payment made to the petitioner.
