1. The relief sought for by the petitioner in the present writ petition is for an appropriate direction to the respondent No.4 for deciding his application for change of name and mutation of his name in the revenue records.

2. The contention of the petitioner is that the dispute is in respect of Nazool Sheet No.42, Plot No.118/4 situated in Tehsil and District Raigarh. According to the petitioner, the said property was owned by one Shri Shankar Lal Agrawal and his name is recorded as Bhumiswami in the revenue records. The said property was purchased by the petitioner by way of a registered sale deed executed on 31.03.1998 and thereafter the petitioner has approached the revenue authorities for change of name in the revenue records vide application dated 08.07.2020 as renewal of the lease has to be done in the year 2022, however, till date the application has not been decided and therefore the petitioner has filed this petition for

-2an appropriate direction to the respondents to decide the application at the earliest.

3. Learned counsel appearing for the State submits that let an appropriate direction be given to the respondent authorities for taking a decision on the application of the petitioner.

As submitted by the State counsel, the writ petition at this juncture stands disposed of directing the respondent No.4 to decide the application filed by the petitioner for change of name and also for mutation at the earliest preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. It is made clear that the respondent No.4 shall take a decision purely in accordance with the provisions of law governing the field and that this court has not expresed any opinion on merits.
