1. The limited prayer that the petitioner makes in the present writ petition is for an appropriate direction to the respondent No. 2 to take an appropriate decision in the departmental appeal that the petitioner has preferred for.

2. According to the counsel for the petitioner, the petitioner in the instant case was inflicted with a punishment of stoppage of one annual increment with cumulative effect, which is otherwise a major punishment. The petitioner thereafter immediately preferred an appeal to the respondent No. 2 on 01.04.2021, which till date is pending consideration.

3. Given the limited relief that the petitioner seeks, the present writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent No. 2 to take an appropriate decision in the departmental appeal at the earliest preferably within a period of 60 days from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
