1. The present writ petition has been filed aggrieved of the order Annexure P-1 dated 27.08.2021, by which the petitioner has been inflicted with a major punishment of demotion to the lower post of Reader Grade-II w.e.f. 23.08.2021 in the pay scale of 520020200+2800 GP(Level-7).

2. The said order has been passed under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1966. Under the said Rules the impugned order is an appealable order. The petitioner

does not seem to prefer the appeal and have straightaway filed the present writ petition assailing the order of demotion.

3. Given the fact that departmental appeal has not been preferred by the petitioner, the writ petition at this juncture stands disposed of directing the petitioner to prefer a departmental appeal within a period of 15 days time. Subject to the petitioner preferring an appeal, the Appellate Authority is expected to take an appropriate decision on the same at the earliest.

4. With the aforesaid observation, the writ petition accordingly stands disposed of.
