1. The counsel for the petitioner restricts his relief to the extent that the respondent No.2 may be directed that to decide the appeal of the petitioner (Annexure P/6), which he has filed as early as on 20.02.2007 so far as non-granting of promotion is concerned.

2. Mr. Marhas, Advocate on instructions submits that the appeal shall be decided expeditiously.

3. That, on the said submission made by the counsel for the respondents, the writ petition itself is disposed off. The respondent No.2 is directed to ensure that the pending appeal of the petitioner is decided at the earliest preferably within an outer limit of 45 days.
