1. The petitioner has filed this petition praying for direction to the respondents to provide adequate and effective police protection to the petitioner and members of his family.

The petitioner has also prayed for a direction to the authority to provide him proper compensation for destruction of his property by the criminals/antisocial elements.

2. Learned counsel for the State points out from the document and which is not disputed by the petitioner that FIR has already been registered and the matter is under investigation by the police.

3. In this view of the matter, at this stage, no orders are required to be passed. The petition is accordingly disposed off with a direction that the police authority shall carry out fair investigation in the matter. Not only the petitioner, but every citizen is entitled to protection of his life and liberty as and when complaints are made to the authority. The authority shall look into the matter and act in accordance with law.

4. In so far as issue of compensation is concerned, no such direction can be issued at this stage. At the end of criminal trial, if the petitioner is entitled to any compensation under the statutory scheme of the State, such claim may be taken into consideration.
