The limited prayer that the petitioner has sought for in the present writ petition is for an appropriate direction to the respondents to finalize the pension proceedings of the petitioner.

According to the petitioner, he has retired on 30.06.2017 on the post of Assistant Engineer, Water Resources Department. Though he has retired more than two years back, till date he has only been paid the provisional pension. He further makes a submission that there is no departmental
-2enquiry or any such a proceeding by which the petitioner's pension could have been held back.

Given the said submission by the petitioner, this Court is of the opinion that no fruitful purpose would be served in keeping the writ petition pending rather ends of justice would meet if the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents No. 3 to 5 to ensure that the pension of the petitioner is finalized at the earliest without any further delay within a period of 4 months from the date of receipt of the copy of this order unless there is any specific reason for not finalizing the same. 4.
