This petition under Section 482 of Cr.P.C. has been filed by the petitioner for a direction to the police authorities to complete the investigation expeditiously and arrest the respondent No.2 as also to protect the petitioner against various threats given by the respondent No.2.

FIR lodged by the petitioner was registered by the police on 11-05-2018. Considering that the allegations relate to commission of offence under Section 376 of IPC, Station House Officer, Nawagarh, District Janjgir Champa is obliged under the law to complete the investigation expeditiously and file a report under Section 173 of Cr.P.C. before the jurisdictional Magistrate at the earliest. Moreover, if the accused has not been granted bail by the competent Court, the Police is obliged under the law to arrest the respondent No.2 and if he has not been arrested, the Investigating Officer

should take all expeditious steps to arrest the accused. 3.

There are certain allegations that the petitioner is being threatened. The report in this regard has also been placed before this Court. In this report also, the police authority has to enquire the matter and take necessary steps as early as possible. 4.
