By way of this petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, the Petitioner is praying for issuance of direction against Respondent No.2Director General of Police, Raipur (CG) to decide the mercy petition, which is pending before the said authority.

It is contended by the Petitioner that Respondent No.4- Superintendent of Police, Surajpur, District Surajpur vide its order dated 18.09.2019 has reduced one salary increment of the Petitioner and, the said order has been affirmed further by Respondent No.3- Inspector General of Police, Surguja Range, District Surguja vide its order dated 03.03.2020. It is contended further by the Petitioner that being aggrieved with those orders, a mercy petition was filed before Respondent No.2- Director General of Police, Raipur on 03.07.2020, but the

same has not been decided till date. Counsel for the Petitioner, therefore, prays for issuance of directions to the said authority to decide the mercy petition as early as possible.

Shri Amit Baxi, Panel Lawyer appearing on behalf of the State, has raised no objection with regard to the aforesaid contention of the Petitioner. 4.

In view of the aforesaid contention of the parties, this Court feels that no fruitful purpose would be served in keeping the petition pending as the same can be disposed of at this stage itself.

Accordingly, it is directed that Respondent No.2-Director General of Police, Raipur shall decide the said mercy petition as filed by the Petitioner way back on 03.07.2020 as early as possible preferably within a period of three months from the date of communication/ receipt of the copy of this Order. 6.

With the aforesaid observation, the Writ Petition stands disposed of at the admission stage itself.
