Despite there being an order passed by the Arbitrator appointed under Section 5 of the National Highways Act, 1956 on 25.10.2017, the amount of compensation has not been paid to the petitioners.

Petitioners have already moved representation for release of the amount, but no order has yet been passed for releasing the amount in their favour.

Let the concerned Land Acquisition Officer make payment of the amount awarded by the Arbitrator within a period of 1 month from today. The petitioner's entitlement to interest on the awarded amount is left open to be determined as and when the petitioners make such prayer and prefer fresh writ petition for which liberty is reserved in their favour.

The writ petition is disposed of.
