The relief sought for by the petitioner in the present writ petition is for an appropriate direction to the respondents to consider grant of victim compensation to the petitioner for the death of his who died in the intervening night of 11th/12th of May, 2018.

According to the counsel for the petitioner, the son of the petitioner was choked to death in a car bearing registration no. CG10-AB/6217. It is further contended by the counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner has already approached the respondent no.2 by way of a representation/application for release of the victim compensation, however, the said application till date has not been finalized.

In view of the submission so made by the counsel for the petitioner, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent no.2, the Collector, Bilaspur, to consider and take a decision on the petitioner's application for grant of victim compensation within a period of 60 days from the date of receipt of copy of this order. While deciding the same, the respondent no.2 is expected to take into consideration the scheme framed by the State Government in this regard.
