1. The limited relief sought for by the petitioner in the present writ petition is for a direction to the respondent to take a decision on the application moved by the petitioner for grant of regular stage carriage on the route Jamnipali to Sarangarh and one return trip daily.

2. According to the petitioner, he had moved an application for grant of stage carriage permit as early as on 31.12.2017 which stood rejected vide order dated 02.08.2019. Against the said order of rejection dated 02.08.2019, the petitioner had approached the State Transport Appellate Tribunal (in short, STAT) by preferring an Appeal and the said Appeal i.e. Appeal No.67/2019 stood allowed on 07.11.2019. The appellate Tribunal has quashed the order and had directed the Transport Authority to consider the application of the petitioner afresh. The parties were also directed to appear before the Transport Authority on 20.11.2019. Thereafter, no order as such has been passed.

3. Given the aforesaid facts and circumstances of the case, this court is of the opinion that ends of justice would meet if the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to decide the pending application of the

-2petitioner keeping in view the order passed by the STAT in Appeal No.67 of 2019 on 07.11.2019. The respondent is expected to take a decision at the earliest preferably within a period of 45 days from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
