By way of this writ petition, the petitioners seek issuance of direction to respondent nos. 1 to 4 to provide adequate protection to the petitioners, from any private persons, including the father and step brother, and any other relatives of petitioner no.2 in the interest of justice. 2.

Issue notice. The learned ASC accepts notice on behalf of respondent nos. 1 to 3.

This Court has heard learned counsel for the petitioners as well as learned ASC for State/respondent no. 1.

In the present case, the petitioners are a lawfully married couple, both being majors, who have solemnized their marriage of their own free will and consent by way of a valid Nikah ceremony on 18.03.2024, and are seeking protection of their life and personal liberty under Article 21 of the The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.

Constitution of India. It is stated that the petitioner no.1 is a permanent resident of Delhi, and petitioner no.2 is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir. Presently, both petitioners are residing in Delhi, petitioner No.2 having left her parental home due to threats and coercion aimed at forcibly separating her from her husband. Further, it is stated that the petitioners are facing continuous threats, intimidation, and a real and imminent apprehension of physical harm, including threats of false criminal cases, at the hands of close relatives of petitioner no. 2, including her father and step-brother, solely on account of their lawful marriage. It is stated that the petitioners have no efficacious alternative remedy and are constrained to invoke the extraordinary writ jurisdiction of this Court for protection of their fundamental rights guaranteed under Article 21. 5.

This Court notes that the petitioners have inter alia prayed for protection of life from any private persons, including the father and step brother, and any other relatives of petitioner no.2. The right to life and liberty is a cherished Fundamental Right guaranteed by the Constitution of India and the instant case merits a careful indulgence of this Court in ensuring the same.

Keeping in view the sensitivity of the present matter and submissions made by learned counsel for the petitioners, the petitioners are directed to provide their contact numbers to the concerned SHO and Beat Constable, and the concerned officers are also directed to provide the contact numbers of Beat Constable and SHO concerned to the petitioners, and provide necessary assistance as per law in case the need so arises. 7.

In view of the above, the learned counsel for the petitioners states that he is satisfied with the above arrangement.

It is clarified that this order will not be considered as any reflection on the merit of any dispute, pending between the parties. 9.
