In terms of order dated 20th August 2024 passed by this Court in the present writ petition, the Respondents have consulted with IIT Roorkee on the aspect of installing specialised noise barriers. In this regard, through email communication dated 3rd October, 2024, IIT Roorkee has opined as follows:

On the basis of the above opinion, the Executive Engineer (Civil), PWD, GNCTD has filed a status report dated 11th October, 2024 indicating that a proposal for the installation of noise barriers is being moved to the higher authorities for further consideration and the revised approximate cost for the said installation being fixed at Rs. 1.46 crores. 3.

Mr. Anil Kumar Sharma, Assistant Executive, PWD, who is present in the Court today states that this proposal of the PWD is subject to the final decision taken by the higher authorities. He submits that usually a decision on such a proposal is taken within a period of two to three months. 4.

present writ petition, the same is disposed of with a direction to the Respondents to take a decision on the proposal of PWD, taking into account the amounts indicated in the 'Schedule of Quantity' attached as Annexure 4 of the Status Report dated 11th October, 2024, within a period of four months from today. It is understood that in case the said proposal is accepted, the work for installation shall be commenced expeditiously. 5.

It is further clarified that in case there is no resolution within the timelines specified above, the Petitioner shall be at liberty to approach the Court for suitable directions.
