This petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 ('BNSS') seeking a direction to the Respondent no. 1 i.e., SHO of Police Station Ambedkar Nagar, Delhi to provide necessary police protection and security to the life and liberty of the Petitioners herein. 4.

Petitioner nos. 1 and 2 are present in Court and have been identified by their counsel.

It is stated that Petitioner nos. 1 and 2 are both major. It is stated that The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.

the Petitioners are married and their marriage has been registered at Marriage Registration Officer, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. 6.

It is stated that, however, Respondent nos. 2 to 8, who are the relatives of Petitioner No. 1 have not accepted the marriage and Petitioners apprehend threat to their lives from the said Respondents. 7.

Issue notice. Learned ASC for State accepts notice. 7.1 He states on instructions from the Investigation Officer, Sub-Inspector Sonu Jha ('IO') from Police Station Ambedkar Nagar, Delhi that Respondent no. 2 has given a written representation to the Respondent no. 1 that he has severed his relationship with Petitioner No. 1 on account of the said marriage between the Petitioners.

7.2 He states that Respondent no. 1 will duly sensitize Respondent nos. 2 to 8 as regards the legal rights of the Petitioners to marry and live together so as to not cause any interference in the rights of the Petitioners; and also take appropriate steps to provide all necessary assistance and protection as required by the Petitioner nos. 1 and 2.

The Petitioners state that they reside at House No. K-613, Dakshinipuri, Delhi-110062, which is in close vicinity of residence Respondent nos. 2 to 8.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts and circumstances and the averments made in this petition and the representation of Respondent no. 2, shows that the apprehension of threat perceived by the Petitioners is reasonable.

Learned counsel for Respondent No. 1 is directed to ensure that the telephone number of the SHO of the concerned Police Station is shared with the learned counsel for the Petitioners. The SHO shall share with the The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.

In the event any threat is perceived by the Petitioners, they shall communicate the same to the concerned Beat Constable and/or the SHO on the aforesaid numbers so provided, who shall take steps to promptly provide security/protection to the Petitioners.

The Petitioners appear to be vulnerable and therefore the concerned SHO is directed to be responsive to any request for protection received from the said Petitioners.

The Petition is disposed of with the aforesaid directions along with pending applications.
