This is a joint petition for extension of time filed under Section 29A(5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. 3.

Though, there is no representation on behalf of the respondent, the petition bears the signatures of counsel for both parties. 4.

This apart, the petition also bears the signatures of the authorised representatives of the petitioner as well as the respondent. Besides this, affidavits are also appended to the petition which are signed by the respective authorised representatives of parties. 5.

In these circumstances, I am of the view that no notice needs to be issued to the respondent.

Even though the record shows that nearly 48 hearings have been held, I am inclined to extend time in view of the fact, I am told, that arguments have been heard and the Arbitral Tribunal has reserved the matter for pronouncement of the award.

As a matter of fact, in the prayer clause, though, extension of time is sought till 18.01.2019, counsel for the petitioner by way of abundant caution seeks extension of time till 31.01.2019.

The prayer made by counsel is acceded to.

8.1 Accordingly, the time for pronouncing the Arbitral award is extended till 31.01.2019.

The petition is disposed of in the aforesaid terms. 10.

Counsel for the petitioner will inform the counsel for the respondent as to the order passed today.
