The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that the FIR No. 0509/2018 under Sections 279/506 of the IPC; Section 30 of the Arms Act 1959; and Section 186 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 registered with PS Vikaspuri and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, be quashed.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner states that the petitioner has settled all his disputes with respondent no.2 at whose instance the aforesaid FIR was lodged and therefore, interest of justice would be served if the FIR in question is quashed.

This Court is not persuaded to accept the aforesaid contention. It is well settled that certain offences which are against the society cannot be quashed. An offence under the Arms Act, 1959 thus cannot be quashed

solely on the basis of a settlement arrived at between the concerned parties. In the present case, it is alleged that a weapon had been fired and the weapon as well as live cartridges have been recovered. 4.
