After some hearing, with the consent of learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the respondent no.2, the present petition is disposed of with a direction that the present writ petition itself shall be treated as a representation by the respondent no.2 and an appropriate decision shall be taken on the request of the petitioner to include 'power lifting' as a competitive sport in the forthcoming 38th National Games.

While deciding the representation, the respondent no. 2 shall take into account the prior recognition and status accorded to 'power lifting', and its status as a prominent sport in the country. The present petition stands disposed of in terms of the aforesaid directions.

Learned counsel for the State of Uttarakhand submits that there is no logistical constraint in including 'power lifting' as a competitive sport for the purpose of 38th National Games and that necessary arrangement/s shall be made for the said purpose, subject to the decision that may be taken by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) in petitioner's representation. The said statement is taken on record.
