The present petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a direction to the Respondent to release the Petitioner on furlough for a period of three (3) weeks.

Learned counsel for the Petitioner states that the Petitioner is not being permitted to apply for the furlough.

4.1 He states that the Petitioner is entitled to have a reasoned order denying him the right of furlough.

In view of the submissions recorded hereinabove, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the Competent Authority to treat the present petition as an application of the Petitioner for the prayer of furlough. 6.1 The Competent Authority is directed that the prayer for the furlough be heard and disposed of within a period of four (4) weeks and the order be communicated with the Petitioner forthwith.

With the aforesaid directions, the present petition stands disposed of. 8.

List for reporting compliance on 10.03.2025.

Copy of the order be sent to the Jail Superintendent for information and necessary compliance.
