This petition has been filed under Article 227 of the Constitution of India for issuing directions for expeditious disposal of the divorce petition bearing HMA No. 182/2021, titled as "Dr. Sushil Kumar Vs. Dr. Anuradha Kashyap", pending before the Family Court-02, East District, Karkardooma Courts, Delhi.

This Court vide order dated 17.07.2023 in CM (M) 1093/2023, had issued directions to the Family Court not to grant any unwarranted adjournments in the divorce petition and to make an endeavour to decide/dispose of the same as expeditiously as possible. Learned counsel submits that despite such directions, respondent is deliberately trying to delay the disposal of the petition. It is submitted that the matter is still pending for evidence of the respondent and he is not completing his evidence, due to which, the matter is getting delayed. 4.

Without knowing the board position of the trial court, it may not be appropriate to issue any time-bound directions. Petition is disposed of with fresh directions to the trial court to make best possible endeavour to dispose of the case as expeditiously as possible. The trial court shall ensure that no unnecessary adjournments are granted. The Advocates, appearing for the parties, are also directed to render their due co-operation to the trial court in expediting the matter.
