Present petition has been filed by convict Sandeep Chauhan through his mother Smt. Shakuntala Devi.

Limited request in the present petition is to direct the Competent Authority to transfer the convict from Central Jail No. 14 of Mandoli to Tihar Jail. It is submitted that earlier also, an application was filed but it was withdrawn. Now, another application has been filed by the mother of convict which is dated 17.12.2025 and so far, there is no decision on the aforesaid application.

The parents of petitioner are present in Court and they submit that they are residents of Vasant Kunj, New Delhi and since they are aged and suffering from various ailments, it is not always possible for them to travel all the way to Mandoli Jail. in Mandoli Jail. It is for the aforesaid reason that they have prayed for transfer.

When asked, learned counsel for petitioner reiterated that such representation made by the mother of convict has yet not been decided. 5.
Learned Addl. Standing Counsel for State appears on advance notice and submits that aforesaid application shall be decided, as expeditiously as possible and in accordance with law.

Learned counsel for petitioner, on the basis of aforesaid assurance, does not press the present petition at this stage. He, however, submits that in case aforesaid application does not find favour with the Competent Authority, he may be permitted to file petition afresh.

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed of as not pressed. Liberty, as prayed, is granted.

Simultaneously, concerned authority i.e. DG (Prison) is requested to decide the aforesaid application dated 17.12.2025 filed by Smt. Shakuntala Devi in accordance with law and with due compassion, preferably, within two weeks from today.

A copy of this order be sent to Superintendent Jail for due information and compliance.
