The present petition was filed seeking directions to Respondent to consider Petitioner's case for pre-mature release under Policy dated 16th July, 2004.1 2.
The Petitioner was convicted under Sections 302/498A/304B/120B/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life by judgment dated 31st January, 2011. In appeal, the said conviction was upheld.

The Petitioner thereafter made a request for pre-mature release by placing reliance on the Policy dated 16th July, 2024 which outlines criteria for the pre-mature release of convicts undergoing life imprisonment. 1 Bearing NO.F.18/5/94/Home(Genl)/ The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. However, since then, through order dated 04th December, 2024 issued in the name of Lt. Governor of NCT of Delhi, the request of the Petitioner has been accepted and the unexpired portion of the sentence of Petitioner has been remitted, based on the recommendations of Sentence Review Board in their meeting held on 30th August, 2024 and 18th September, 2024. Copy of the order dated 04th December, 2024 wherein Petitioner's name is mentioned at S.No. 22, is handed over across the board and is taken on record.

In view of the foregoing, since Petitioner's request for pre-mature release has already been accepted, no further directions are required to be passed.
