By a judgment of the Sessions Court dated 09.10.2019, the petitioner was convicted for offences punishable under Sections 376(2)(g)/377/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 ["IPC"], in FIR No. 286/2012 registered at Police Station Sunlight Colony. By the sentencing order dated 18.10.2019, he was sentenced to undergo life imprisonment, alongwith a fine of Rs.10,000/-.

The petitioner's appeal [CRL.A. 140/2020] was partly allowed by a Division Bench of this Court, vide judgment dated 20.12.2021, which upheld the sentence of life imprisonment under Sections 377/34 of the IPC, but acquitted the petitioner under Section 376(2)(g) of the IPC. The petitioner has filed the present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution, seeking consideration of his request for pre-mature release in the upcoming Sentence Review Board meeting. 4.
It is stated that the petitioner has already undergone imprisonment for a period of 15 years and 7 months, including remission. 5.
Mr. Amol Sinha, learned Additional Standing Counsel for the State, who appears on advance notice, submits that the petitioner's case will be considered in the next meeting of the Sentence Review Board. 6.
In view of the above submission, no further orders are sought in the present petition, and it is therefore disposed of.
