The instant petition under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 has been filed by the petitioners praying for quashing of FIR bearing No. 1136/2022, registered at Police Station Nihal Vihar, Delhi, for offences punishable under Section 406 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 („IPC‟) and Sections 3 & 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. 2.
Issue notice. Learned APP appearing on behalf of the State accepts notice.

It is also stated that the complainant had appeared before the Court of learned MM, Mahila Court, District West, Tis Hazari Court, Delhi-110054 and stated that she did not wish to pursue the matter and had settled the matter with the petitioner. Hence the present writ petition is instituted. 4.
Petitioner is present before this Court and has been identified by his counsel Mr. Sanjeev Kumar and Investigating Officer (IO) SI Sanjeet from Police Station Nihal Vihar, Delhi.

On the query made by this Court, respondent no.2 who has been identified by the IO, has categorically stated that she has entered into compromise out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. It is also stated by respondent No.2 that the entire dispute has been amicably settled between the parties vide Settlement Deed dated 15.01.2024 entered into between them.

In view of the above fact that the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will, and without any coercion, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. 7.
Accordingly, FIR bearing No. 1136/2022, registered at Police Station Nihal Vihar, Delhi, for offences punishable under Section 406 of IPC and Sections 3 & 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.

The petition stands disposed of.
